Older adults will be able to travel free of charge on ferries sailing the Nicoya Gulf from this Friday.
The resolution was issued by the Transportation Department for Public Services and benefits the persons over 65 years as part of the fulfillment of the integral law for the older person.
Enterprises offering the service in the Nicoya Gulf must apply the ticket exoneration: Tambor Shipping AS and Coonatramar R.L., which courses are lower than 25 kms as the law 7935 says.
The regular tariff on board a ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera is ¢810, while from Puntarenas to Playa Naranjo is ¢1005. In the case of children under 12 years is ¢485 y ¢600 respectively.
The shipping companies opposed the tickets exoneration because they alleged a financial unbalance, however the older adult law allows the enterprises to deduct the tax over the rent what they cease to receive charging the ticket to these persons.
